Walking tour number 6 complete, only one left to go!!! On Sunday I will have completed 7 walking routes in Helsinki and I know my way around pretty well. Today’s walking route was the longest and it was one of my favourite ones, along with the Fortress one. I went around the market square and along the sea shore and watched some people bungee jump. I was so tempted to check out prices but 1) I’m scared to do it and 2) I’m broke so I just took pictures of people jumping. I finally got into Stockmans, it’s an 8 floor department store, I wasn’t too impressed but I was pressed for time today so I think Sunday I will make my way back and really look around for stuff. Today when I went into town, Mummi and Grandpa drove me to the metro because they were going to visit a friend and the metro was on the way. They had to stop for gas and Mummi insisted that I get an ice cream and a drink for my walk today, and brought me a snack from her house which I am saving for tomorrow morning. Grandmothers, the same no matter what country you’re in, they like to spoil the grandchildren. Even though I’m not one of the grandkids, she was happy to get me the stuff. Since coming here, I have felt part of the family, back in Geneva I have my friends and there is stuff to do around town so on weekends, I go into Geneva and don’t come back until everyone is in bed, but on the Island, it’s a little hard to do that since I have to rely on people to drive me back and forth I go in for the day and at night I come back and spend time with everyone. Grandpa told me last night that he has enjoyed me being here and it made me happy. I get along with Mummi and Grandpa so well, I will truly miss them a lot when I leave. Tomorrow the plan has changed, I am going with everyone to some family party or birthday or some sort of dinner to a family members house. I figure it will a) save me money, b) be easier for everyone and c) I can see a different part of Finland instead of spending the day in the city.
Tonight when I put the kids to bed, I hooked up the baby call so I could hear what was going on in the bed room, listening to Alice tell Azadeh to be quiet and that she is not allowed to make noise and Alice knows more than Azadeh is the funniest things I have heard. I love listening to the two of them argue and such because the words that come out of Alice’s mouth is priceless, I can’t help but laugh.
Only 3.5 days left on the Island. I have mixed feelings about this, I am happy because I get plumbing back but I’m sad since I love it here so much. All good things must come to an end eventually.
Well I’m off to eat some cheesies and watch me some Gossip Girl!!!
