Day one!!

Well I am here in Helsinki. The flight went WAY better than I had expected aside from a sad good bye to papa, and lots of bathroom breaks on the plane, it was smooth sailing. I love it so far. The town is gorgeous and the island that we are staying on is breath taking. Nature and rocks everywhere! There is no plumbing here on the island, but there are showers thank god!! I can get used to outhouses. We have to take a boat to get from the main land to the cottage we have here, it’s definitely something I will have to get used too. Mummi and Grandpa welcomed us with open arms when we got to the dock. When we got to the island I was given the grand tour of the place or should I say places. There are like 5 houses on this island and they all belong to the family. The kids and I are sleeping away from the house; I am sleeping on my own YAY. It has been extremely windy and nice out and SUNNY, bright blue skies; it’s awesome. Most of today was spent playing with the kids and reading on the dock; so relaxing!! Mummi had gotten me a few pamphlets of Helsinki and stuff to see and do while here which was extremely generous of her. One of the interesting things she got me was seven walking routes around town; they range in KM from 2.5KM to 7.0KM I plan on doing all seven routes by the time I leave. It will allow me to SEE everything that I want to see and much more. One main mission this week is to find me a SUBWAY. We passed two just on the way to the island so I am assuming I will at least pass more when I get into town. If I have enough Euros by the end of my trip I plan on taking a day trip to Estonia and taking the boat across. I think it would be cool to go there since it’s a country I would NEVER go to aside from this trip. I am really looking forward to being able to explore Helsinki and take in everything I possibly can while I am here. This will be my test for London, although I am not travelling alone per-say, I am going to be doing all the sightseeing and trips by myself.
