Long update-BEWARE

Alrighty, things have been insanely busy since I have returned from Finland.  Time is flying by now (only 5 weeks left in Switzerland) and I don't have time to do anything but enjoy the last bit of time I have here.  Since I have come home from Finland I have done a bit of things.

The night I came home from Finland, I sent my luggage home with my host family and took the train into town from the airport.  I met up with Mattie, Anna, Dan and a new aupair Agate from Latvia.  We went to the pub and had a couple drinks and had some food since I hadn't really eaten since Finland I was starving.  Airplane food doesn't cut it.  When we were done at the pub we walked to the Fete de Geneve.  It's a huge party basically for Geneva.  Lots of rides, and food and FUN.  By 11:00 half the group left so it was just Anna, Dan and me walking around.  Anna and Dan had to work the following morning so we went out separate ways and headed home.

That weekend was the HUGE fireworks display that Geneva put on.  I have been to quite a few firework displays in my lifetime but NOTHING compares to these ones.  During the day Anna and I met up and walked around the Fete de Geneve while we waited for Dan and his friend Kia.  We went on a couple of rides and had some fun.  I have to say the funnest ride I went on was called "Top of the World".  It was the swings that spin around but with a twist.  They go up to the top where you can see all of Geneva and beyond.  It was probably the coolest ride I have ever been on.  When we met up with Dan and Kia we went on a couple of more rides then hit up some Mexican food for dinner.  YUMMY and filling.  After dinner we finally met up with Brittany, then Anna, Brittany and I went and watched the fireworks from Anna's host dad's boat on Lake Geneva.  The view was definitely something.  The were 12 barges of fireworks for a show that was over an hour long that was timed to music.  Overall, I have no idea how anyone will ever top this display, I will never view fireworks the same again.

The following weekend I had a 3 day weekend :).  On the Friday I went up to the 'telepherique du saleve' in France.  It is a lift that takes you to the top of a mountain.  I was supposed to go to Zermatt this day but since there was a chance for rain in Zermatt, I wasn't taking the chance and made alternate plans.  The view was pretty awesome, if only it was crystal clear I could have seen for miles and miles.  I did see pretty far and got some pretty awesome pictures.   After I was happy with my pictures I took, I headed to the Red Cross Museum which was kinda interesting.  It was neat to see how it was founded and why it was founded.  Then I decided to look for these apartments that I have been trying to find forever.   I knew the area that they were in and the tram to get there but I had no idea what stop to get off at.  I finally found thesd apartments and I must say they are the COOLEST apartments I have ever seen in my life.  See pictures below.

The following day was Stephanies going away get together :(.  It was a sad day because this meant that she was leaving Switzerland very soon.  Besides Heather, Stephanie was one of my first friends when I came to Switzerland.  We hung out with a couple other girls and went for Pizza.  I realised that this is time of year where old auapairs leave and new ones come, I am excited to meet new aupairs but at the same time, there is no point in getting really close with them since I am leaving very soon.  It's hard to say goodbye to friends that I have made.

This last week I have been in Locarno visiting my exchange family from 2005.  I lived with them for three months and I have been trying to come back and visit them for five years.  When I moved out to Switzerland I was so happy that I was able to come back and visit.  Since October 2009, I have visited four times and this is my last time I will see them before I return to Canada.  I have had a lot of fun visiting.  Lots of laughs and craziness with a family that will always have a place in my heart. While in Ticino I finally got back to Bellinzona and visited the three castles.  Castelgrande, Castle Montebello and Sasso Corbaro.  We also went to Como, Italy for the day, had Chinese in Italy, and went to the market in Intra, Italy.

I head back to Geneva tomorrow night (Sunday), and begin the the last two weeks of summer vacation with the girls.  I'm really excited for the summer to be over for three reasons:
1) Both girls are in school, and back into routine
2) I go to London, England
3) I'm that much closer to going home

This summer has gone by so fast, not to mention this year has gone by so fast.  I can't believe that September is less then two weeks away.  I have two weeks of work, five full days of vacation then my final two weeks of work, then I am finished :).  I will then head to Scotland until October 1st and visit with a friend, and family then fly back to Canada.  I am beyond excited since I haven't seen my mom since Christmas and I miss her a lot.  I am so proud of myself for taking this job and lasting the entire year.  I never thought I could have done it and through out the year I have grown up a lot and I am happy for that.

That's all for now. <3
